Coming soon: As You Like It

By William Shakespeare

Summary: Chance encounters in a forest. Entangled love affairs. Four weddings but no funeral... and Swanndris?

In Stagecraft's final production for 2012, Shakespeare's fun and entertaining comedy is made even more accessible as it's transported from the Royal Court and Arden Forest to rural New Zealand.

The Royal Court is in turmoil, and right in the middle of it is Rosalind, the Duke's daughter. Rosalind's uncle has usurped the Duchy and exiled her father, the Duke. Rosalind has been permitted to remain at court because she is the closest friend and cousin of her uncle's only child, Celia. Orlando, the youngest son of one of the exiled Duke's greatest supporters, is being persecuted by his older brother, Oliver. Yet amongst all this turmoil, Orlando and Rosalind fall in love. But how will this love survive once Rosalind is also banished?

With sheep, gumboots and some classic Kiwi musical anthems, you are sure to like As You Like It.
