About Stagecraft

Stagecraft Theatre Incorporated is a non-profit theatre society in Wellington, New Zealand.

We are a non-profit Society, but we try (and largely succeed) to not make a loss with our productions. However, we do appreciate the sponsorship we receive from a number of sources.

Our prime sponsors are our patrons, Roy and Renate Savage. Without their generosity, Wellington would not have the superb venue that is the Gryphon Theatre and Stagecraft would not have a home.

The design of the Gryphon Theatre was conceived and donated by Grant Tilly.

Stagecraft also acknowledges the special contribution of Sam Perry to the establishment of the Gryphon Theatre.

Stagecraft has received funding for the Gryphon Theatre from the Absolutely Positively Wellington City Council and the New Zealand Lotteries Grants Board.

We aim to deliver high-quality productions and have fun by providing for the needs of our membership and prudently managing our theatrical programme.

You can participate in Stagecraft activities by becoming a member of Stagecraft and participating in productions, or by being a member of our audience.

We welcome you in any capacity.

Stagecraft is based on Ghuznee Street in the Gryphon Theatre, which was purpose-built and designed for us by Grant Tilly.

Stagecraft's activities are made possible through revenue from productions and generous sponsorship.

Thank you to our sponsors
